Creoles: A jewelry trend for eternity?

by Sonja Zuckerstätter

Baggy pants, shoulder pads, tattoo chokers and the like: over the past few decades, we've been through a lot of trends along with the stars in Hollywood. And let's be honest - with many a fashion hype, it's good that trends sometimes pass. But in retrospect, even across rather dubious fashion eras, there are classics that come to stay. Why we immediately think of gold creole earrings like our boops ? That's what a look at the past reveals.

The 1980s: With Lady Di and Madonna

If you want to know whether gold creoles have rightly been among the absolute trend accessories for what feels like an eternity, you really only have to take a look at two of the women who already went for the timeless basics in the 1980s: Princess Diana and Madonna. Lady Di remains her usual discreet and unobtrusive self - making the gold creoles a royal must-have in the jewelry collection. Madonna, on the other hand, is regularly seen wearing thick and large hoops, not least at her concerts.

The 1990s: Pretty Woman and Sex and the City

In the 1990s at the latest, the golden classics among earrings also arrived on the big screen: As Vivian Ward, Julia Roberts presents her eye-catching gold creoles over 30 years ago - and enchants the whole world with her look just like Richard Gere alias Edward Lewis.

Towards the end of the 1990s, Julia Roberts was joined by more celebrities: with fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker in Sex and the City, the gold hoops had the ultimate revival - even if in real life she tends to stick to minimalist looks with smaller hoops. By the way, Sex and the City is also the best example that gold creoles simply belong in every jewelry collection: As different and unique as Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda are - over the many seasons of the series, each of the four women wears hoops sooner or later. And, of course, to outfits that are at least as diverse as the characters themselves.

The 2000s: From short & skinny to diamond studded

By the beginning of the 2000s, gold creoles were everywhere - and all the stars were wearing them. But it's still far from boring. The more celebs jump on the trend, the clearer the diversity of this timeless accessory becomes: delicate women like Christina Aguilera and style icon Viktoria Beckham wear large, eye-catching hoops; Ashley Simpson wears them in bright turquoise; Lindsay Lohan goes for gold hoops in the shape of a heart - and for Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, the classic earrings are studded with diamonds all around.

The 2010s: Who doesn't actually wear creoles?

Over a decade later and we realize - even in the 2010s, it's virtually impossible to find stars whose jewelry collection doesn't include hoops. Whether it's Gossip Girl star Blake Lively, Hollywood icon Meryl Streep or global star Beyoncé, they all went for hoops in the 2010s - and the trend lives on.

The 2020s: Your time for hoops made of real gold

Gold hoops have been part of celebrities' looks for so long now that one thing is clear: the trend isn't going away anytime soon. A good reason to add a hoop or two to your jewelry collection. And because the jewelry pieces are timeless, they should also accompany you for a long time. That's why we at boops rely on basic hoops made of real gold. Our classic earrings are not only gold-plated, but made entirely of pure gold. Whether with sweatpants, the elegant evening dress or very basic with jeans and T-shirt: Your boops are universally applicable, make every outfit complete and that since decades - and for decades.
